The U.S. Naval Institute is maintaining and preserving the former Naval Historical Foundation website so readers and former NHF members can still access past issues of Pull Together and other content. NHF has decommissioned and is no longer accepting new members or donations. NHF members are being converted to members of the Naval Institute. We Need Your Support for the Combined Federal Campaign!

We’re fast approaching the end of 2012, which means that a new season of Combined Federal Campaign giving is upon us. The Naval Historical Foundation is one of the approved charities registered for donations by Federal employees through the Combined Federal Campaign!

The Naval Historical Foundation’s mission covers three important aspects of naval history: Preservation, Education, and Commemoration. We help to preserve historic artifacts, documents, and photographs through acquisition and transfer to appropriate archives and museums. We educate the public and the U.S. Navy by creating world class museum exhibits, informative videos, and compelling publications – as well as through our annual STEM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and History) Teacher Fellowship program. We commemorate solemn and historic events such as the Battle of Midway by hosting events in the Washington, D.C. area, and by commissioning commemorative coins. One of our STEM-H Teacher Fellows was generous enough to film a short video explaining some of the programs we run, we hope you will watch and enjoy it below.

We ask that you consider the Naval Historical Foundation this fall for a donation through the Combined Federal Campaign. Please note that our CFC Agency Code is 11010. All Federal employees are eligible to donate, and your support means everything to us.

In 2004, my family presented me with a book called U.S. Navy (A complete History) I was wondering if another publication is in the works or has one already been published?

      Gene,

We’re pleased that you enjoyed the book. A second edition was published in 2006 with chronology updates, and this book was reprinted in 2008. Unfortunately, there are no plans to update the chronology at this time.
