About Historical Services

The Foundation does NOT have its own collection of photographs, but offers photographic reproduction services for images in the Naval Historical Center's collections.

For images found in the Naval Historical Center's Online Library of Selected Images, the Naval Historical Foundation is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the availability or the quality of those images. The Naval Historical Center's original pictures are often old, small, faded, damaged or otherwise substandard. If in doubt about quality needed for publication or other use, please ask before ordering.

Photographic Research

You are advised to begin your search at the Online Library of Selected Images. If you do not find what you are looking for online, please contact the Naval Historical Center's photographic section at (202) 433-2765.

For more extensive research requests, the Foundation can provide research services at a rate of $30 per hour. Please contact us to make arrangements.

How to Place an Order

Once you have obtained reference information from the Naval Historical Center, you can submit your order online using a credit card. Or, if you prefer to pay by check, you may download an order form and send it with payment.

Payment must be received before all orders can be processed.

Due to security screening by the US Postal Service, delivery of all incoming mail may take 3-7 days longer than normal. To avoid this delay, you are encouraged to fax your order to us, or use a commercial courier.
