    Great idea

  2. Irwin says:

What a great idea! I hope more Age of Sail movies are added, I’m sure there’s one about the Barbary Wars but the name escapes me.

  3. Jack Green says:

Great idea! You should include TV shows and Broadway plays as well. TV shows include Navy Log, The Silent Service, The Blue Angels, Convoy, Ensign O’Toole, and of course, McHales Navy. Movies such as South Pacific, Mister Roberts, and The Caine Mutiny (all three not on your list) were Broadway plays. I was the first PAO for the Naval Historical Center and worked and studied in this area a great deal!

A couple of my WW II classics to add: “Action in the North Atlantic,” “Destination Tokyo,” “Hell Below,” “Men of the Fighting Lady,” “Mister Roberts” and “Ensign Pulver,” “Tell it to the Marines” (some shots of the USS California are in there), “This Man’s Navy” (a rare movie highlighting the USN’s Airship Service), “Up Periscope” (the serious precursor to the “Down Periscope” spoof) and of course, “McHale’s Navy Meets the Air Force!” :-D

  5. Jenn Marland says:

    this is a good idea.

  6. Joe Mosier says:

One of my favorite’s from a technical viewpoint was Away All Boats. As a retired Master Chief Petty Officer, I like the film’s take on the CPO ranks.
