“The Outer Banks”
The North Carolina Maritime History Council organizes a conference in a different region of the state each year. This year’s conference concentrates on the maritime history and culture of the area of the Outer Banks, and is centered on Hatteras and the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum.
The conference starts with a reception at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum on Thursday afternoon and evening. Paper presentations on Friday and Saturday mornings will be at the Hatteras Community Center. On Friday afternoon there will be tours of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the life saving stations at Chicamacomico and Little Kinakeet.
Registration for the conference costs $95.00. A special rate of $50.00 is available for full-time students and school teachers (supporting documentation required). Registration for each day’s presentations only costs $50.00 and attendance at the Friday evening reception and dinner only costs $40.00.
