National Archives Lecture: The Armageddon Letters – Kennedy, Khrushchev, Castro in the Cuban Missile Crisis

October 12, 2012 @ 12:00 pm

James Blight and Janet Lang discuss their new book, The Armageddon Letters, which takes readers behind the scenes during the October 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, arguably one of the most dangerous confrontations of the nuclear age. Researched over 25 years, and augmented with an interactive trans media program, Blight’s and Lang’s account has been described as a virtual time machine depicting the narrowness of humanity’s escape, and the determination never to let anything so dangerous ever happen again. A book signing will follow the program.

This program is being presented in conjunction the exhibit “To the Brink: JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis” on display October 12 through February 4, 2013 in the Lawrence F. O’Brien Gallery.
