Lunchtime Lecture and Book Signing at the Navy Museum: Sunk in Kula Gulf with author John J. Domagalski

March 13, 2013 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Sunk in Kula Gulf tells the story of USS Helena’s final voyage and the epic struggle of her survivors. Those sailors fought for life in the hours and days that followed the warship’s sinking on July 6, 1943. Some were rescued the night of the sinking as the sea battle continued to rage, but the ordeal for other sailors would last more than a week. Using a variety of sources, including previously unpublished firsthand accounts, John Domagalski brings to life this incredible little-told story of heroism and survival at sea.
