Lecture – How Not to Lose a War, Part 1: The United States in the Naval War of 1812

The Rocky Mountain Military Affairs Society presents a free public lecture. Dr. Chuck Steele is an Associate Professor of history at the U.S. Air Force Academy with an abiding interest in naval history. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley , he holds an MA in War Studies from King’s College, the University of London, and PhD in history from West Virginia University. The former editor of Helicopter News, and first Defense Editor of Rotor and Wing magazine, he served as an Assistant Professor of history at the United States Military Academy before moving to the Air Force Academy in 2006. In addition to his teaching duties, he is book review editor for the International Journal of Naval History and has published in Naval History, the Journal of the Australian Naval Institute, and the UK’s Naval Review. An ocean enthusiast, he is a PADI certified Divemaster with training in Nautical Archeology from Britain’s Nautical Archeology Society.
