Run Silent, Run Deep: A Tribute To The Life Of Captain Edwards L. Beach

The Naval Historical Foundation will be co-hosting "Run Silent, Run Deep: A Tribute To The Life Of Captain Edward L. Beach" on April 10, 7 PM at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington. Beach, a retired Navy captain, passed away at his home in Washington Dec. 1, 2002. Co-sponsors include the U.S. Naval Institute, the Naval Historical Center, the Naval Submarine League and the Navy Memorial Foundation.

Naval Historical Foundation president Robert F. Dunn will moderate the program.

"Ned Beach had a passion for naval service, an extraordinary knowledge of naval history and naval lore, and a great literary talent, all of which combined and contributed to his numerous works of both history and fiction," Dunn, a retired vice admiral, said. "Given his accomplishments as a naval officer, historian and author, such a program, closely coinciding with the 103rd birthday of the submarine force, is most appropriate."

Invited speakers and commentators at this event will include fellow authors Tom Clancy, Paul Stillwell and Dr. William Dudley, director, Naval Historical Center. Also speaking are naval officers who served with Beach during his long career.
